ASSIGNMENT 1

ICT in support of the educator

This assignment is to be done once you have completed Activity 5.

Base this assignment on your understanding of the reading and activities you have completed in Activities 1-5.

What to do:

Using this template, analyse the seven roles of the educator and evaluate the part that ICT can play in supporting you in these roles. (35)

Then produce 6 documents. These 6 documents should be completed using at least three applications (software e.g. word processor, spreadsheet etc). The purpose of these 6 documents should cover at least 4 roles of the educator in practical school-related situations. You may use any applications of your choice, but ensure that your tutor will be able to open the files. (35)

Include this summary table in your template. The following table is completed as an example showing at least 3 different applications in the Application column and at least 4 different purposes in the Role of the Educator colulmn:

In your assignment template document, in no less than 200 words explain the challenges you face (10) and how you plan to overcome these and change your practice in order to increase the impact of ICT on your roles as an educator. (20)

You have analyzed each role of the educator and evaluated the potential of ICT to support you in each role. You make reference to your own work situation and resources accessible to you. You clearly indicate what value and potential you see in ICT for you personally in each role.	Maximum of 35
Examples that you provide indicate that you are involved in appropriate use of ICT to support a range of roles in your current practice. The content of the documents is sound and you have made some use of the special features of the application (more than just a very basic document). You have covered 3 applications and 4 roles in your portfolio of documents.	Maximum of 35
You have described challenges that you may have in using ICT to support your roles as an educator. If you feel that you do not have challenges, you think very critically about how you can improve your integration of ICT.	Maximum of 10
You have stated what new goals you have set for enhancing the impact of ICT in your roles as an educator. These goals align to the challenges that you face and are set in a timeframe. They also indicate what conditions would be necessary for you to achieve these goals.	Maximum of 20

Compress your 6 documents AND the RENAMED template into one ZIP file and save the file, naming it Country_Module3_YourName_Assignment1.zip

e.g. If you are in Grenada and your name is Joan Armstrong:

(You may also use ARJ as a compression method).
